2016 starts with podcasts!

To kick off the new year I decided to delve into the world of podcasts and only after 2 days I am hooked - all thanks to Grace Bonney's (Design Sponge"After The Jump".

In the series, Grace chats with various independent artists, designers, small business owners, writers and general makers and shakers in the creative community. The show is jam packed with real-life examples of best practice and things to avoid and above all, it's inspiring!

In just two days I have made it to Episode 28 (interview with the great illustrator and designer Julia Rothman).

I love how Grace is able to share her personal success stories and challenges whilst including a range of perspectives along the way.

If you are interested, Seasons 1 & 2 of After the Jump are online here and on iTunes here.

Grace if you happen to read this, thank you! I look forward to tuning in to Season 3.

This little gem has re-energised me and my workflow.

Arale Records Door 2 of 2

Finally sharing the photos of the finished studio door I did for Arale Records way back in April of last year!

Close up

Arale
The balance between humans (and their technology) with nature and the use of technology to live either harmoniously or destructively and how the responsibility with human's ability to reason, logic and create.

The wonderfully talented Layla Rutherford of Arale Records invited me to customise her studio door.

Taking inspiration from the Arale concept and values, I created a digital print and layered it with a hand drawn illustration of a cast of human lungs.

For pics of the door in progress head over to post Arale Records Door 1 of 2.

Thanks Molotow and Chrome and Black for your help with choosing materials!

Latest comissions - Laser cut framed prints

Here's some of the latest laser cut prints I have done in the last few months as commissioned pieces.
Line Up White Small, 2014
This first piece is a smaller version of the original I created, which you may have seen before on display at Urban Outfitters White City earlier this year.

It is framed in an oak frame and designed to fit on a mantle piece.

The piece below was designed around a love for bees...
Bumble One, 2014

...and this one around a nick name!
Dancing Apples, 2014
It's always great to be able to create one off pieces to suit different people and their favourite things.

For commissions, you can email me at s.samsoodin@gmail.com or get in touch via Twitter @SSamsoodin or on Facebook.
