2016 starts with podcasts!
To kick off the new year I decided to delve into the world of podcasts and only after 2 days I am hooked - all thanks to Grace Bonney's (Design Sponge) "After The Jump".
In the series, Grace chats with various independent artists, designers, small business owners, writers and general makers and shakers in the creative community. The show is jam packed with real-life examples of best practice and things to avoid and above all, it's inspiring!
In just two days I have made it to Episode 28 (interview with the great illustrator and designer Julia Rothman).
I love how Grace is able to share her personal success stories and challenges whilst including a range of perspectives along the way.
If you are interested, Seasons 1 & 2 of After the Jump are online here and on iTunes here.
Grace if you happen to read this, thank you! I look forward to tuning in to Season 3.

Art Inc. - Recommended book
Art Inc. was one of my summer reads and comes highly recommended by me.
It reminded of the small things and more importantly, how to re-energise myself when creativity seems to slip away.

It's definitely inspiration for my career ahead!
Hilights include interviews with some top practitioners and independent creative businesses and a step by step guide on how to create a vision map and reach your goals.
The only thing I would say is some of the legal stuff will not be that useful if you are practising in the UK, like me.
Thanks to Lisa Congdon, a fine artist and illustrator and author for sharing her tips and experience!

Potsdam
The Chinese House, a garden pavilion in Sanssouci Park in Potsdam, was designed by the garden architect Johann Gottfried Büring in the then-popular style of Chinoiserie; a combination of ornamental rococo elements and parts of Chinese architecture for the Prussian king Frederick the Great. It's a little crazy and well worth a visit!
To visit Sanssouci Park and learn about the crazy party animal and militant reign of Frederick the Great you can join a Fat Tire Bike Tour of Potsdam Gardens and Pavillions from Alexanderplatz, Mitte. I highly recommend it!

Yayoi Kusama - Victoria Miro
After seeing the work of Yayoi Kusama at the Tate show a couple of years ago I became an instant fan. I popped along last week to see her latest exhibition 'Pumpkins' at the Victoria Miro gallery.
Here's what you can expect to see and some of my favourite works.

From the above work until now, she continues to produce powerful transformative work. Her dedication to her art is truly inspirational.
Of all the works at the Victoria Miro I have to say the piece above was my favourite.
