Illustrated Wall - Insectia - 2009

Trawling through the many projects I have done and came across these.
Done way back in 2009. Insectia began on paper and made it's way on to my bedroom wall.
Here are some pictures I wanted to share with you, which are also on my website.

Sadly the wall you see below no longer exists.
A huge thanks to Komal Ghai for taking these pictures, which I will always have to remind me of this project.
It was a lot of fun to do.

new space!

After making the decision to move back to London I now have more space and a new desk. I am in love with it!
Here's some pictures of my new set up and developing work.

here's a sneek peek of a dress I am embroidering
Although it is not long before I will be moving again I am very happy to be back in London and to have room to create.
2012 is around the corner and I am looking forward to what the year holds for me.
More pictures coming soon of new work, which has developed in the space.

The framed paperwork is part of a body of work titled "Insectia".
A series of pieces inspired by the dark and beautiful nature of insects. Drawing on research and Kerchache’s unique displays in “The Hand of Nature” this collection focuses on the fascinating metallic and jewel-like qualities of beetles and butterflies. It documents their brilliance and depth through a series of mixed media studies. Using light reflecting materials alongside laser cutting and illustration, the work aims to fuse traditional design with digitally innovative design methods and to encourage the use of digital design for creative output. Materials used include, glitter, gold leaf, inks, resin, coated and handmade papers in the construction and translation of the metallic and reflective qualities found within these creatures.
The pieces are currently on sale at Urban Outfitters. If you would like to take a look, pop down to Covent Garden and they can be found on the upper 2 floors (Womenswear).
Prices vary. Please email me for more info or to request a commission.
I hope you enjoy!
